Football Recap: Ottawa Takes a Loss

Ottawa was the 31-24 winner over Spring Hill when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cyclones were beaten by the Broncos 36-7 on Friday. The game marked the Cyclones' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Spring Hill's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hank Kotchavar, who rushed for 116 yards and one TD on only 12 carries. With that strong performance, Kotchavar is now averaging an impressive 102.8 rushing yards per game. Maysen Dodson also helped with two touchdowns in total.

This is the second loss in a row for Ottawa and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Spring Hill, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Ottawa is set to take on their familiar foe Bonner Springs on Friday. Meanwhile, Spring Hill will challenge rival Paola at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
