Baseball Recap: Thomas Jefferson Academy Jaguars vs. Brentwood War Eagles
Thomas Jefferson Academy had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 10-15 to make it four. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Brentwood War Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the War Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 back in March.
Blake Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Grant Gillooly made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
As for Brentwood, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-11. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games.
On Brentwood's side, their victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was JW Hitchcock, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Thomas Jefferson Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Brentwood, they will face off against John Milledge Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
