Basketball Recap: Mary Marsalek Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Dinuba

Mission College Prep's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 37-26 win over the Dinuba Emperors. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Royals as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Mission College Prep's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mary Marsalek, who posted four points and 16 boards. With that strong performance, Marsalek is now averaging an impressive 8.5 rebounds per game. Makanani Guy was another key player, putting up eight points.

Mission College Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dinuba only pulled down five offensive boards.

Dinuba lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kathryne Forbes, who put up five points along with seven boards and three steals. Forbes is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Gonzalez, who posted six points.

The victory got Mission College Prep back to even at 3-3. As for Dinuba, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Mission College Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-26 win against Foothill Tech on the 14th. As for Dinuba, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 49-43 loss against Morro Bay on the 14th.
