Basketball Recap: Weston Ranch's Losing Streak Snapped at Six Games

Weston Ranch can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 50-34 win over the Cordova Lancers. The Cougars' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Weston Ranch was led to victory by Ja'Naysha Green and Lila Harper. Green posted 20 points in addition to eight boards and six steals, while Harper almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. Green has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Nikki Taylor, who put up five points.

Weston Ranch's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Cordova, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Weston Ranch and Calaveras will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cordova will take on Burbank in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Burbank will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Cordova surely won't give up without a fight.
