Softball Game Preview: Mason Eagles vs. Macomb Hornets

The Mason Eagles will head out to challenge the Macomb Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mason's pitching crew has only allowed 1.5 runs per game this season, so Macomb's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Mason managed to slip by Varnum the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Eagles lost 6-0 to the Whippets on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 19 runs in the game before, the Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Macomb took on Strother in a bug-themed battle on Monday. The Hornets came out on top against the Yellowjackets by a score of 7-2. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Having lost for the first time this season, Mason fell to 3-1. As for Macomb, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Mason skirted past Macomb 6-5 in their previous meeting back in August of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
