Recap: Marshall Eagles vs. South El Monte Eagles
The Marshall Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 25 points or more this season. They took their game at home on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 59-22 victory over South El Monte. Given Marshall's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 369th, while South El Monte is ranked 911th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marshall to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaitlan Sakuma, who scored 12 points along with four steals. Jolynn Alibar was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Marshall and bumps their season record up to 8-5. As for South El Monte, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marshall will finish 2023 at home by hosting Pasadena at 6:00 p.m. on December 29th. South El Monte will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rosemead at 5:00 p.m. on January 8, 2024.
