Baseball Recap: Madras White Buffalos vs. Estacada Rangers

Madras extended their losing streak to eight on Thursday, dropping them down to 8-18. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Estacada Rangers. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Rangers this season, with their most recent loss being a 5-0 defeat last Monday.

Bentley Stockton put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Pablo Solis made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

As for Estacada, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games.

Like Madras, Estacada also got a great game from a two-way player: Davin Olson. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Olson has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Dane Carpenter was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season. Duke Durand was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.

As of now, neither Madras nor Estacada have any future games scheduled.
