Softball Game Preview: Prairie City-Monroe Mustangs vs. Nevada Cubs

Prairie City-Monroe is 8-2 against Nevada since June of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Cubs at 5:30 p.m. Prairie City-Monroe's pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so Nevada's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Prairie City-Monroe will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Thursday, then bounced right back against Grand View Christian on Friday. The Mustangs blew past the Thunder 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Nevada was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Greene County.

Prairie City-Monroe is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Nevada, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.

Everything went Prairie City-Monroe's way against Nevada in their previous matchup on June 2nd, as Prairie City-Monroe made off with a 16-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
