Baseball Recap: Windsor Academy Takes a Loss

Windsor Academy extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping them down to 3-8. They lost 21-4 to the John Milledge Academy Trojans. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Windsor Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blayne Bennett, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Another was Dawson Sims, who earned one run and two stolen bases.

As for John Milledge Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On John Milledge Academy's side, the team relied heavily on Lane Rhodes, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Rhodes a new career-high. Xay Cheney was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Looking ahead, Windsor Academy will head out on the road to square off against Southland Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.75 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for John Milledge Academy, they will be playing at home against Piedmont Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
