Baseball Recap: Rutland Takes a Loss

Rutland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 7-3 to the Callaway Cavaliers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Cavaliers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 10-0 loss on Thursday.

Rutland saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tate Summerday, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Rutland's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9-1. As for Callaway, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rutland will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pike County at 6:00 p.m. on April 7. As for Callaway, they will venture away from home to take on Jackson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
