Baseball Recap: Ashland Comes Up Short

Ashland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 17-4 to the Thurston Colts. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Colts this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-1 on Tuesday.

Ashland saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Malakai Chandler, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Chandler is becoming a predictor of the Grizzlies' success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 3-1 (and 7-11 when he doesn't).

Ashland's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Thurston, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season.

While Ashland had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
