Baseball Recap: Calvary Christian Snags Fourth Win in Last Five Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Calvary Christian had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top against the Strong Rock Christian Patriots by a score of 9-6. This was a revenge game for the Knights: when they faced off against the Patriots on Friday, they had to take a 8-3 loss.

Fitz Stone was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Calvary Christian is 9-3 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 9-10 otherwise. Stone was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Liam Hocutt was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Bryson Brooks was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Calvary Christian is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 18-13 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Strong Rock Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-18.

Calvary Christian will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Patriots: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
