Last Friday, Gilbert Classical Academy came up short against Leading Edge Academy - GEC and fell 44-37.
Meanwhile, Miami waltzed into their game on Friday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They took down San Carlos 66-50.
Miami got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tamia Pietila out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Pietila has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 16 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Demetria Dosela, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
Gilbert Classical Academy now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Miami, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4.
Gilbert Classical Academy came up short against Miami when the teams last played on January 5th, falling 43-30. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Pietila, who dropped a triple-double on 22 points, 13 rebounds, and 13 steals.
