Basketball Recap: Warren's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

It was a good run, but Warren unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They came up short against the Downey Vikings, falling 52-30. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 43-41 two weeks ago.

Amanda Velazquez had an outrageously good game for Downey as she dropped a double-double on 21 points and 17 rebounds. Velazquez continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Natalie Gomez, who posted seven points along with ten boards and four steals.

Warren's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Downey, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Warren will host Dominguez at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Downey, they will welcome Mayfair at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
