Basketball Game Preview: Marin Academy Wildcats vs. Lick-Wilmerding Tigers

Marin Academy is 0-10 against Lick-Wilmerding since January of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Marin Academy Wildcats take on the Lick-Wilmerding Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Lick-Wilmerding will be up against a hot Marin Academy team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Marin Academy blew past Convent of the Sacred Heart, posting a 73-33 win. The Wildcats' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Lick-Wilmerding was fully in charge on Monday, breezing past Oakland 62-30. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 190th, while the Wildcats are ranked 621st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lick-Wilmerding is also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.2 points per game. As for Marin Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.

Marin Academy took a serious blow against Lick-Wilmerding in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 63-35. Can Marin Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
