Basketball Recap: Chaparral's Run of Three Straight Wins Now Over

If Chaparral was riding high fresh off their 59-35 takedown of Murrieta Mesa last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Chaparral Pumas took a 68-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Temecula Valley Golden Bears on Wednesday. The Pumas were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Golden Bears earlier this season, when they won 44-33.

When it comes to explaining why Chaparral lost, don't look at Zetta Faasua. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 36 points and 11 boards. The game was Faasua's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Lexa Ava Li, who posted three points along with five assists and five steals.

With the loss, Chaparral broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-8. As for Temecula Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-9.

Chaparral will look to defend their home court on Friday against Great Oak at 5:30 p.m. Chaparral is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season. As for Temecula Valley, they will venture away from home to challenge Murrieta Mesa at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Temecula Valley is facing Murrieta Mesa at the right time seeing as Murrieta Mesa is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
