Softball Recap: Lincoln Northwest Takes a Loss

Lincoln Northwest had lost six straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 2-22 to make it seven. They lost 14-1 to the Elkhorn Antlers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Falcons of the 8-5 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

As for Elkhorn, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 18-12. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Elkhorn's part, Lexi Randles looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Randles has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ava Crollard was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Wragge, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Coming up, Lincoln Northwest is taking a road trip to square off against Buena Vista at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Elkhorn, they will be playing at home against Elkhorn North at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolves' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Antlers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
