Basketball Recap: Woodland Christian Makes It Ten in a Row on the Road

It's playoff time, and Woodland Christian had no trouble coming through when it counted. They snuck past the Rosamond Roadrunners with a 47-41 win on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Cardinals, who have now won five games in a row.

Woodland Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Teagan Hayes, who posted 18 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Hayes is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 14 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Keziah Maldonado-Lemus, who earned 12 points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Woodland Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Several Roadrunners players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ariel Cain, who put up 14 points in addition to eight boards and six steals. That was a full 34.1% of Rosamond's points, marking the third time in a row Cain has had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nadiyah Baladez, who scored eight points and four steals.

Woodland Christian's win was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 31-6. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.0 points on average over those games. As for Rosamond, the defeat snapped their winning streak at 14 games and leaves them with a 29-8 record.

As of now, neither Woodland Christian nor Rosamond have any future games scheduled.
