Softball Recap: Tattnall Square Academy Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home + How To Watch

Tattnall Square Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against First Presbyterian Day on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 11-8 to the Vikings. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Trojans, who until this game were averaging 3.82 runs allowed.

Callie Still spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered nine earned runs on 12 hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mercer West was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Tensley Cleghorn also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Tattnall Square Academy's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-5. As for First Presbyterian Day, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Tattnall Square Academy will venture away from home to square off against Piedmont Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.33 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for First Presbyterian Day, they will welcome Mount de Sales Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
