Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Twin River

Twin River extended their winning streak to three on Saturday, bumping them up to 7-6. They came out on top against the York Dukes by a score of 8-5. With that victory, the Titans brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Laynie Allen looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on JLee Van Driel, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mya Ramaekers, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As for York, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5. The defeat continues a trend for them in their meetings with Twin River: they've now lost three in a row.

On York's side, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was McKenzye Shepherd, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Kaylee Wegrzyn also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Twin River will have a chance to go back-to-back against York: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
