Baseball Recap: Commerce Finds Home Field Redemption Against Rabun County

Commerce's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Rabun County on Friday. The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since February 14th.

Michael Purvis tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Commerce is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Commerce saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Levi Raettig, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Commerce has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Rabun County, they dropped their record down to 5-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Commerce will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair will be back at it again later today.
