Softball Recap: Adairsville Finds Home Field Redemption Against Gordon Central

There's no place like home for Adairsville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Everything went their way against the Gordon Central Warriors on Wednesday as they made off with a 15-0 victory. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Chloe Hill was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Adairsville let Ansley Powell and Maddie Baggett run wild. Powell went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Baggett went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Baggett a new career-high. Cadey Evans was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

Adairsville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Adairsville now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Gordon Central, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Adairsville will square off against Woodland at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Gordon Central, they will challenge Coosa at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.14 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
