Football Recap: Baldwin Takes a Loss

If Baldwin was riding high fresh off their 35-14 takedown of Wellsville last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs were beaten by the Silver Lake Eagles 47-7 on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 50-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Bryis Alford threw for 60 yards on seven of 14 attempts. Jackson Rood was his top target, picking up 32 receiving yards. On the ground, Kreyton Frost rushed for 61 yards.

Silver Lake's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dayne Johnson led the charge by picking up 203 receiving yards and three TDs. Johnson really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 78 yards. Bryson Burgos also helped with two touchdowns in total.

Baldwin's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Silver Lake, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Baldwin will venture away from home to challenge Santa Fe Trail at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Chargers' defense has only allowed 9.2 points per game this season, so the Bulldogs' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Silver Lake, they are taking a road trip to take on Riley County on Friday.
