Softball Recap: Lithia Springs Comes Up Short

Lithia Springs extended their losing streak to 11 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 4-12. They lost 15-0 to the Villa Rica Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 back in August.

As for Villa Rica, their record is now 13-8. Considering they have won ten matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Villa Rica's part, Sophia Plagemann was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Plagemann has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Villa Rica got a big performance out of Parker Harrison, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Bristol Rodgers, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Lithia Springs will face off against rival New Manchester at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Villa Rica is set to challenge their familiar foe Alexander at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 2.7, the Cougars 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
