Independence and West are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The 76ers will welcome the Cowboys at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Independence and six for West dating back to last season.

Independence came up short against Eastmoor Academy on Wednesday, falling 12-4.

Independence saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mar'Lon Kent, who went 1-for-2 with one run. Deven Davis Jr was another, earning one run and two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, it was a classic East v. West duel when West duked it out with Eastmoor Academy on Monday. The Cowboys lost 15-2 to the Warriors.

West's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Independence, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Everything went Independence's way against West when the teams last played back in April, as Independence made off with a 16-2 victory. Will the 76ers repeat their success, or do the Cowboys have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
