Basketball Game Preview: Foothill Mustangs vs. Twelve Bridges Raging Rhinos

The Foothill Mustangs and the Twelve Bridges Raging Rhinos will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Foothill has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Friday, Foothill came up short against Oakmont and fell 41-29. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Maryssa Arnold, who posted 11 points. Those 11 points gave her a new career-high. Joyce Runner was another key player, putting up eight points.

Meanwhile, Twelve Bridges' undefeated season came to an end after five games on Friday. They took a 51-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Laguna Creek. The match marked the Raging Rhinos' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Foothill will have to keep a close watch on Maisie Dennis and Addison Carpenter, a pair of players who had a big impact on Twelve Bridges' prior game. Dennis put up 14 points along with six boards and three steals, while Carpenter had eight points and 12 rebounds. Carpenter is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashtyn Magee, who posted six points and 11 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Twelve Bridges smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Foothill's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Twelve Bridges, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.
