Preview: Iowa Park Hawks vs. Jim Ned Indians
The Iowa Park Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Jim Ned Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Iowa Park will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 493rd, while Jim Ned is ranked 202nd).
Last Friday, Iowa Park beat Clyde 21-13. The win was just what Iowa Park needed coming off of a 48-27 defeat in their prior matchup.
Iowa Park can attribute much of their success to Parker Allen, who rushed for 94 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Jim Ned entered their tilt with Vernon with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Jim Ned beat Vernon on Friday by the very same score they won with last week: 36-32. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Jim Ned's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Dean Guffey, who rushed for 80 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries, and Brayden Shipman, who rushed for 241 yards and two touchdowns. Shipman was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 61 yards.
Iowa Park has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season. As for Jim Ned, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
Iowa Park lost to Jim Ned on the road by a decisive 31-13 margin when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Iowa Park, Troy Doran (who rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 130 yards and a touchdown on only ten passes) won't be suiting up this time.
