Soccer Recap: La Mirada Gets Big Win over Higher-Ranked Sage Hill

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only La Mirada walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the Sage Hill Lightning 1-0. The win was all the more spectacular given the Matadores' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Lightning are ranked 25th).

La Mirada pushed their record up to 16-9-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three contests. As for Sage Hill, the loss snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 15-4 record.

As of now, neither La Mirada nor Sage Hill have any future games scheduled.
