Baseball Game Preview: Miller Grove Wolverines vs. Drew Charter

The Miller Grove Wolverines are taking a road trip to face off against Drew Charter at 5:55 p.m. on Thursday. Miller Grove has given up an average of 13.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Miller Grove lost 24-1 to Drew Charter on Tuesday.

For Drew Charter's part, Jacob Haynes made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave Haynes a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI, one triple, and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Drew Charter's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Drew Charter got a massive performance out of Josiah Rich, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Drew Charter is undefeated when Rich posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Richburg, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4.

Drew Charter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Drew Charter is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 18 runs. Miller Grove's loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
