Soccer Game Preview: Twentynine Palms vs. Yucca Valley

Twentynine Palms is 0-10 against Yucca Valley since February of 2020 but things could change on Thursday. The Twentynine Palms Wildcats will be playing at home against the Yucca Valley Trojans at 5:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Twentynine Palms is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Indio, falling 13-0.

Meanwhile, Yucca Valley came up short against Coachella Valley on Tuesday and fell 6-4. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 785th, while the Mighty Arabs are ranked 285th).

Willow Jones and Arabella Arechiga scored all four of Yucca Valley's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 17 goals.

Yucca Valley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6-1 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 17 goals over those four games. As for Twentynine Palms, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8-1.

Twentynine Palms suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Yucca Valley when the teams last played last Tuesday. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Twentynine Palms was down 7-0.
