Football Recap: Tyler Arguinzoni Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Walnut

South Hills won the last time they faced Walnut and things went their way on Friday too. The Huskies blew past the Mustangs 41-21.

South Hills' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tyler Arguinzoni, who rushed for 121 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. That's the most rushing yards Arguinzoni has posted since back in October of 2024. South Hills also got a significant boost from Fabian Marez, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 92 yards.

South Hills' run defense was locked in: Walnut could only muster 2.3 yards per carry. While four picked up at least two total tackles, Arguinzoni stood above the rest. He rushed for 121 yards and three scores while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. South Hills didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.8.

When it comes to explaining why Walnut lost, don't look at Nohlen Simons. Despite the final result, he threw for 232 yards and one TD while picking up 11.6 yards per attempt.

South Hills' win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-5. As for Walnut, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.

Coming up, South Hills is taking a road trip to square off against Chino at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Walnut, they will host Covina at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs will be up against the Colts' rather soft defense (which has allowed 43.75 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
