Kankakee Valley is 1-9 against Munster since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Kougars will host the Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. Kankakee Valley will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
On Saturday, Kankakee Valley got the win against South Central by a conclusive 12-2. That's two games straight that the Kougars have won by exactly ten runs.
Jake Fitzpatrick was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Kankakee Valley's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 4-2 (and 7-10 when he doesn't). Fitzpatrick was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Kankakee Valley let Brady Flick and Hunter Munoz run wild. Flick went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base, while Munoz went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Flick a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Munster won against Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger on Friday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Mustangs came out on top against Moline by a score of 7-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
The team relied heavily on Nate Southwell, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Crowley, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Kankakee Valley's victory bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Munster, their win bumped their record up to 19-6.
Kankakee Valley might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Munster in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Kougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
