Soccer Game Preview: Oakland vs. Oakland Tech II

The Oakland Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Oakland Tech II Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Oakland will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal on Monday, then bounced right back against Life Academy on Wednesday. Oakland put the hurt on Life Academy with a sharp 8-1 win. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 6-1.

Meanwhile, Oakland Tech II entered their tilt with Fremont on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Tigers onto the board and left with a 1-0 victory. Give the Bulldogs' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Oakland is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those four contests. As for Oakland Tech II, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.

Oakland suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Oakland Tech II when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Oakland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
