Baseball Game Preview: Ponaganset Chieftains vs. Prout Crusaders

The Ponaganset Chieftains will venture away from home to square off against the Prout Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Ponaganset will be strutting in after a win while Prout will be coming in after a defeat.

Ponaganset was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Rogers on Monday. The Chieftains were the clear victors by a 17-3 margin over the Vikings. The result was nothing new for the Chieftains, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Prout was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against West Warwick, falling 10-0.

The victory snapped Ponaganset's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-6 record. As for Prout, their loss dropped their record down to 2-15.

Ponaganset was able to grind out a solid win over Prout in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, winning 8-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chieftains since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
