Preview: Dos Palos Broncos vs. Tranquillity Tigers

Dos Palos has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Tranquillity Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Dos Palos won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. Their tough 45-19 defeat to Firebaugh might stick with them for a while. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Dos Palos in their matchups with Firebaugh: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the loss, Dos Palos saw an underclassman step up: Hannah Slimp scored 15 points. That was a full 78.9% of Dos Palos' points, marking the 11th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Meanwhile, sadly, Tranquillity is still looking for their first win of the season after 23 matches. They were beaten by Mendota 63-13 on Monday. While losing is never fun, Tranquillity can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1369th, while Mendota is ranked 425th).

Dos Palos has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season. As for Tranquillity, they dropped their record down to 0-23 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Dos Palos strolled past Tranquillity in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 34-19. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dos Palos since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
