Recap: West Valley Eagles vs. Shasta Wolves        
        
		
            
 It was a good run, but  the West Valley Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their  five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell  53-41 to Shasta. The  game was a  20-20 toss-up at halftime, but West Valley  was outscored by Shasta in the second.
 West Valley lost  despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being   Whitney King, who  scored eight points along with four  steals. The team also got some help courtesy of  Tess Hydrick, who  scored 15 points.
  Joriana Gibbens-egolf was  her usual excellent self,  scoring 19 points along with seven  rebounds and two  steals for Shasta. As a matter of fact, that's the most points  Gibbens-egolf has scored all season.  Bria Tate was another key contributor,  scoring nine points along with two  steals.
 West Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Shasta, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won six of their last eight contests,  which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
 West Valley won't have much time to rest: their next  contest is against Red Bluff at 4:30  p.m.  on January 6th. Red Bluff will have to bring their A-game into this one,  as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 562nd, while West Valley is ranked 171st). Shasta won't have much time to rest: their next  match is against Corning at 1:30  p.m.  on January 6th. Corning is coming into the  game on a five-game losing streak.
