Basketball Game Preview: Benjamin Buccaneers vs. Santa Fe Catholic Hawks

The Benjamin Buccaneers will face off against the Santa Fe Catholic Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Benjamin got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tristan Cameron out in front who posted 15 points. Cameron continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Buchanan, who had 14 points.

Meanwhile, Santa Fe Catholic entered their tilt with Oxbridge Academy on Wednesday with ten consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 11. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the ThunderWolves 65-27. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matches by 22 points or more this season.

Benjamin better focus on containing Tate Darner and Toby Lane as the pair were huge in Santa Fe Catholic's win. Darner went 8-for-14 to rack up 21 points in addition to eight assists and eight boards, while Lane went 7-for-12 on his way to 19 points and four steals. The game was Darner's 12th in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Lackey, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Benjamin is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-13 record this season.
