Softball Recap: Eaglecrest Raptors vs. Broomfield Eagles

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Eaglecrest couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Broomfield Eagles by a score of 5-4 on Saturday. The Raptors haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Zaya Elliott spent all 8.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Giana Vialpando Williams made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Lexi Barger also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Eaglecrest's defeat dropped their record down to 22-6. As for Broomfield, the win was the 18th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 25-2.
