Preview: Alisal Trojans vs. Watsonville Wildcatz
Alisal is 9-1 against Watsonville since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Alisal Trojans will head out on the road to take on the Watsonville Wildcatz at 7:00 p.m. Alisal is coming into the match hot, having won their last nine games.
Alisal put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 70-19 victory over Monterey at home. With Alisal ahead 42-12 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Alisal can attribute much of their success to Lesly Rodriguez trevi?o, who scored 16 points along with nine steals and five rebounds, and Nayeli Gil-silva, who scored 19 points along with nine steals. Rodriguez trevi?o is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Mia Rivera was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, Watsonville ended up a good deal behind Hollister on Thursday and lost 52-38. Watsonville has not had much luck with Hollister recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Alisal's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Watsonville, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Everything went Alisal's way against Watsonville in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as Alisal made off with a 62-40 win. Will Alisal repeat their success, or does Watsonville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
