Baseball Game Preview: Evans Knights vs. Eastside Eagles

The Evans Knights are taking a road trip to challenge the Eastside Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Evans turned things around against Grovetown on Friday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Warriors. Surprisingly, this marked the third straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Tripp Furgeison was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. He also put up three RBI, which were his first of the season. Bryant Rushing was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI.

Evans always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grovetown only posted an OBP of .333.

Meanwhile, while Eastside put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Monroe Area. Everything went Eastside's way against Monroe Area as Eastside made off with a 9-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Not much got past Tripp Swords, who gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Monroe Area off the board.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Parker Denmark, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Amond Sands, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Evans' record is now 2-6. As for Eastside, their record is now 3-6.

Eastside's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Evans has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .458. It's a different story for Eastside, though, as they've only averaged .325.
