Fairbury had lost seven straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 6-19 to make it eight. They took a 17-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 last Saturday.
Autumn L'Ecuyer was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Logan Wentz, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
As for Wilber-Clatonia, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-11 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Wilber-Clatonia's side, Gabby Vlcan was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Vlcan was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played.
In other batting news, Kariss Rosenthal was excellent, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had over her last 12 contests. Peyton Mischnick was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Fairbury does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wilber-Clatonia, they will head out on the road to square off against Milford at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
