Basketball Recap: Nativity BVM Comes Up Short

Nativity BVM was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Mahanoy Area Golden Bears 59-12. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Green Wave this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 62-6 back in December of 2024.

Mahanoy Area's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lilly Carl, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Carl is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Felicia Bro, who posted ten points and six steals.

Nativity BVM's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Mahanoy Area, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nativity BVM will welcome Marian Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Marian Catholic will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something Nativity BVM surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mahanoy Area, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Weatherly at 7:00 p.m. Mahanoy Area is facing Weatherly at the right time seeing as Weatherly is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
