Cherokee Christian let Colton Messer and Charlie Goodwin run wild. Messer went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Goodwin went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Goodwin is becoming a predictor of Cherokee Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-10 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of John Sturniolo, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Cherokee Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Central Georgia Arts had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Cavaliers. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Central Georgia Arts considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Harrison Strange made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anderson Bloodworth, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Bloodworth, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Central Georgia Arts is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Cherokee Christian, their record is now 9-10.
