Football Game Preview: St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy Warriors vs. Bishop Alemany Warriors

St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy will square off against Bishop Alemany at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy and five for Bishop Alemany.

On Friday, St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy lost to Cathedral on the road by a 28-14 margin. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Phantoms are ranked 97th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Le'Allyn (AJ) Monroe, who rushed for 79 yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, Bishop Alemany played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by St. Paul and fell 41-7. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 21-0.

Bishop Alemany's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Everything went St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy's way against Bishop Alemany when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy made off with a 34-14 win.
