Baseball Game Preview: Waukee Warriors vs. Ankeny Hawks

The Waukee Warriors will challenge the Ankeny Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Waukee has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Waukee took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Ankeny Centennial, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Warriors had just enough and edged out the Jaguars 2-1 on Wednesday. The two-run effort marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, Ankeny lost 9-2 to Johnston on Wednesday. The Hawks haven't had much luck with the Dragons recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Waukee's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 3.75 runs across that stretch. As for Ankeny, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Waukee was able to grind out a solid victory over Ankeny in their previous matchup back in June of 2025, winning 5-2. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
