Softball Recap: Silver Creek Wins Going Away Against the Academy

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Horizon, Silver Creek was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Everything went their way against The Academy Wildcats as they made off with an 8-2 victory. Considering the Raptors have won five games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Rylyn Fordham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Natalie Lane was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Abby LaCrosse was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Silver Creek hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as The Academy struck out 13 times.

Silver Creek is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for The Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.

Silver Creek has already played their next matchup, a 14-2 victory against Fort Lupton on the 26th. As for The Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 12-9 loss against Weld Central on the 26th.
