Basketball Game Preview: Plainfield Quakers vs. Martinsville Artesians

The Plainfield Quakers will head out on the road to square off against the Martinsville Artesians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Plainfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.8 points per game this season.

Plainfield is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Center Grove just ended the team's four-game winning streak last Tuesday. They took a 52-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans. While losing is never fun, the Quakers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Trojans are ranked first).

Despite the loss, Plainfield had strong showings from Hannah Menser, who posted 21 points, and Berkeley Williams, who scored 12 points. Menser continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Abrielle Dugan, who had nine points.

Meanwhile, Martinsville played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Center Grove 50-19. The Artesians haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Plainfield suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 8-3. As for Martinsville, their record now sits at 3-7.

Everything came up roses for Plainfield against Martinsville in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 68-34 win. In that matchup, the Quakers amassed a halftime lead of 39-15, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
