Baseball Recap: Whitehall Gets the Win

After losing to Melrose-Mindoro the last time they met, Whitehall decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Vikings walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Mustangs on Monday.

Riley Herman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Whitehall is 4-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 5-6 otherwise. Herman was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Herman wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brett Schorbahn, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Whitehall's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Melrose-Mindoro, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-4.
