Football Recap: Life Christian Academy Piles Up the Points Against Model Secondary School for the Deaf

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Life Christian Academy). They claimed a resounding 50-6 victory over Model Secondary School for the Deaf. The win was all the more spectacular given Life Christian Academy's disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 166th in Virginia, while Model Secondary School for the Deaf is ranked 13th in District of Columbia).

Sedgric Hopkins, Jr. was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 115 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 53 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Jarrell Coleman was in the mix too, providing Life Christian Academy with two TDs.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Life Christian Academy, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jordan Lee, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

The victory made it two in a row for Life Christian Academy and bumps their season record up to 2-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.0 points over those games. As for Model Secondary School for the Deaf, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Life Christian Academy and Model Secondary School for the Deaf will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Eagles see the field they'll take on John Paul II Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. As for Model Secondary School for the Deaf, their break will end when they face Girard College at 7:00 p.m. on the 18th.
