Baseball Recap: New Glarus Comes Up Short

If New Glarus was riding high fresh off their 22-8 takedown of Markesan on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Knights took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pecatonica Vikings on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 7-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2021.

Ethan Colstad made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. New Glarus is 3-1-1 when Colstad posts two or more stolen bases, but 5-8 otherwise. Matthew Roth was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

New Glarus now has a losing record of 8-9-1. As for Pecatonica, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Glarus will face off against Belleville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: the Knights have lost three straight at home , while the Wildcats have lost three on the road. As for Pecatonica, they will host Benton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
